Fat Ogre 2.0

Did a little work on the Bonebreaker. Waffling on whether or not to give him a matching banner over his other shoulder.

Off-week

As some of you may know, I've got some neck problems that tend to give me migraines and/or blurred vision. I got sick about a week ago and somehow tensed my neck bad enough that the vision in both of my eyes is now rather blurry (instead of just my right eye as is normally the case). As such, weekly painting posts are off until I can at least get full vision back in one eye.

Until then I'll try to at least post some in progress shots of what I'm working on or models I've painted in the past.

Fat Ogre Bonebreaker

A little something that I started YEARS ago, but didn't have the right pieces to begin to finish it. Thanks to the new Thanquol kit, I got some new inspiration.

Still a lot of greenstuffing to be done, but I think he's well on his way. (It's based on a River Troll, if you cant tell.)

Week 3: Ring Wraith on Felbeast

Real late posting this, even though it's been done since last Saturday.

This one was for a good friend of mine to use in a big battle at a game convention coming up in a few months.

The wings were Steel Legion Drab and Ushabti Bone run through the airbrush, while the skin was black and Eshin Gray highlighted through Dawn Stone.

Week Two: Skaven Lord

Meant to post this Sunday, but things happen.

With the promise of hilarious evil genius-level Skaven tomfoolery coming out soon, I decided to try out a new scheme on some models I'd meant to paint awhile ago.

For this model I tried to mimic the new Blight King models' armor. I used Incubi Darkness, washed black, as the base then added some small highlights with Kalabite and Sybarite, the last highlight being a 5:1 Sybarite/White mix.

Then I used some Moot Green to make the leaky bits.

I like how he came out and I'm anxious to get my hands on Thanquol and the new redonkulous Rat Ogres to try this on as well.

Upon uploading this, I suddenly realize I forgot the frickin' eyes...

New Year, New Minis

Dear lord, three years. That's a bit embarrassing.

Anyhow, to celebrate a new year I've laid out a plan to do at LEAST one model a week for the whole year. They'll generally be something that's just caught my fancy and, hopefully, not just a commission that I'm currently working on.

I've got two to start us off and they are definitely of the "Caught My Fancy" group.

First SD Kisa for Super Dungeon Explore:

This models was simple and quite a lot of fun. I've done a few SDE models before and I absolutely love having so much room to to the eyes. Normally, eyes end up being just a dot of black and white that get completely lost in the shadows of the face.

Next we've got Uncle Honk (Survivor) from Zombicide:

Another model that ended up being a lot of fun, just because of how characterful (creepy) he is. I started playing Zombicide with some friends and got hooked on how lovely all the Survivor models are. What really sold me was the "Special Guest" boxes which are models designed by different artists (Uncle Honk was designed by Kevin Walker who's mostly known for his work on Judge Dredd and Warhammer comics). I still want to add some blood splatter to him, but I think I'm going to save that for a tutorial (namely because I haven't tested the method I want to use, so I need to ruin a few models before I try it on one I really like).

I'm still trying to get a better way to capture pictures. I'd JUST got a new camera right after Christmas for specifically this purpose, but my apartment got broken into and it was one of the TWO things that got stolen (the other being a Game Boy). So for now, please excuse the "on the table" photos from the phone.

Happy New Year everyone. Let's hope this works.
